Destroys the right wing of the Supremacy
Destroys the right wing of the Supremacy
Why didnt they ever weaponize ftl missiles if this were possible? You would just need to flick pebble sized matter at light speed to destroy planets.
IT'S A ONE ON A MILLION SHOT!!! DIDN'T YOU HEAR THAT THROW AWAY LINE IN THE NEXT FUCKING MOVIE AFTER THEY REALIZED HOW STUPID IT WAS???!! FUCK!!!
Just a million pebbles at a planet instead of 1 then.
But why would it be random chance? Just get a computer to do the exact mathematical equations that will guarantee the hit.
IIT JUST WOULDN'T WORK BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T, OKAY?!
Seeing that scene in theaters was what officially killed the last shred of hope I had for anything good coming out of the sequels.
This was the worst star wars movie I ever seen. Star wars holiday special had more charm than this shitpile
Ah the "Plot"Holdo Maneuver
You can only do it once in a franchise
Let's keep talking about the thing we don't like
That'll make it go away
Cause it was never possible and if it wasn't on the old canon (it is) you would still be a shit ass writer adding that to your setting, because its fucking OBVIOUS that breaks a lot of continuity and logical points, murders the suspension of disbelief, and it's just fucking gay.
Nobody ever talks about you and you still won't go away
No NuWars movie trailers since 2019
We won tho
You HAVE to keep reminding those corporate pigs how bad they fucked up and bullying thier shills to make them stop doing this shit. That and bomb threats or mailing them candid pictures of their family.
Anyone have the webm of Leia doing the Holdo Maneuver?
For the other anons here not getting it
OP is refering to the right wing of the ship, IE right wing politics.
pretty subtle ngl
I did get it
But my disdain and disrespect for Disney made me go into a blind rant of rage and didn't adress it because its not that funny
why would the first order show up while skywalker goes into hiding Why would they bother trying to find him anyways
okay thats valid
woah that's deep
I can't decide if TLJ or TROS is worse. TROS has a shamefully stupid script and it feels like everyone just gave up, but TLJ is just so fucking self important and boring. TFA is garbage but I'd put it above either of them, not like that's a high bar to clear
1 in a million is extremely common to happen in a galaxy
Because the First Order is another Sith-driven entity, and therefore is at war with the Jedi Order and wants to fully destroy them
STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!!!
TROS is significantly worse and I disagree with you on TLJ being boring.
Most of the stuff in Last Jedi that its sequel backtracks on is good and compelling and would have made a better overall trilogy if Rian was in control of the whole thing, like the whole "You don't need to be from a special family lineage to be a powerful heroic force user" thing
TFA is the worst because it fucks up the worldbuilding. Now worldbuilding normally isn't very important but in this case it was so egregiously bad that it made it genuinely hard to understand the stakes and also left the sequel in an awkward starting point because the state of the galaxy made no sense. Contrast with A New Hope where the worldbuilding consists of two or three lines from Tarkin that perfectly lay out the political and military situation in a way that gives proper context for everything that happens in film and the following two sequels.
You forget
destroys fourteen ships
of the 88th battle group
originally a prototype ship, in SW, what color are those? Titanium White.
Why isnt it possible you stupid fuck
Which was worst, lightspeed ramming or lightspeed skipping?
so subtle
Lightspeed ramming breaks lore, lightspeed skipping is possible but just retarded
TROS is mentally disabled kids having fun. TLJ is mentally disabled kids trying to annoy you.
I think ramming is worse. You're pretty much jumping out of normal space with hyperspeed and falling through some pocket that already exists. Skipping is just doing it blind and burning your engines out at the same time with the potential of running into somthing or exploding.
That's a horrible concept to deliberately make an unintentional iconic metaphor, but at least AT LEAST this scene had a kind of new *effect*. Star Wars was the biggest thing in the world in its because the effects were like nothing people had ever seen. JJ seems to think that you could put out new entries with the same characters and no novel effect, and get the same reaction. Well you can't. Rian's silent blast effect isn't enough to wow the population or save the movie from the other 'weird twitter'-brained concepts like OP is pointing out, but at least he did acknowledge the need for a new effect.
*in its time
Ramming was worse. Lightspeed skipping is fine, but the way they show Poe coming out of hyperspeed literally within touching distance of objects and dense areas is beyond retarded. If he skipped into empty spaces it would have been fine.
Why is the Supremacy black?
but that would have looked less cinematic
Has any scene from a movie done more damage to a franchise than this one?
This would have been so much better if Holdo's ship had just exploded on contact with no damage to the Supremacy
so it was a war crime? yikes
right wing of the supremacy
Chud coded
I seem to remember some expanded universe scene where a Star Destroyer comes out of hyperspace and accidentally rams The Executor and The Executor's shields just tanks the hit.
WAHOO 10 MILLION DEAD INFANTRYMEN
Skipping, without a shadow of a doubt. Like holy shit it's just retarded to look at, constantly jumping in and out of multiple planetary atmospheres one after another? Who the fuck wrote this shit?
So is Star Wars ever making another movie or what, it's funny that everyone hated the Disney shit so much they've just made 10 different shows
they're doing Rey's trilogy now apparently. Rian still think he is getting his
TLJ is actively antagonistic. It was leftists planting a flag and saying "this is Star Wars, this is movies, this is modern entertainment now, and we are going to subvert and destroy everything you like, and was previously deemed important." That's why twitoids defended it so vigorously when it released. "Claiming" Star Wars was a big fucking deal. What they didn't expect was that this mindset would essentially go on to destroy all of western entertainment in under a decade.
lmao
really striking while everyone stopped caring about the iron 7 years ago
Updates earlier this year confirmed they are still working on the script for the Rey movie but it's not in production yet (after announcing it 2 years ago...). No news on anything else.
I get the vague sense that the sequel trilogy turned a lot of talented filmmakers away from any potential involvement with Star Wars, not wanting to jump onboard a sinking and stinking ship
TFA and ROS are just bad shlock movies. Same with JJs Star Trek movies. How does TLJ stand out specifically as leftist trash?
-Subverting the archetypal male hero in Luke Skywalker
-Needlessly talking down to Poe, and obfuscating information to get the point of "believe all women" across.
-An entire needless casino subplot mumbling about capitalism
I really don't need to explain this shit at this point. It's not 2017 anymore. Entire novels and documentaries have been made about TLJ, and the damage it did is obvious, and speaks for itself.
One in a million chances happen nine times out of ten
Makes it even better. Admiral purple head got them all almost killed and as she was about to flee a stroke of misfortune befall her and made her crash into the Supremacy.
Truly the best Admiral.
TLJ is far worse.
RoS is fucking stupid, but it frequently veers into the room levels of stupid, and knowing that it’s a sincere attempt to undo the damage of TLJ makes it even funnier; this shit was honestly the best they could come up with within their assigned parameters.
To contrast, the smugness of TLJ reverberates throughout the movie, which makes it even more annoying when it’s frequently childish, contradictory and nonsensical. It’s like watching someone condescendingly try to explain shallow political concepts while picking their nose and calling the audience a doody head.
That’s not getting into how the “subversions” are so laughably predictable once you realise what the movie is about, meaning they stop having any punch whatsoever. You can predict any scene by just imagining the most retarded payoff and have a good chance of being correct.
Here:

the fundamental problem is tfa
I disagree. The fundamental problem was trying to salvage TFA.
The only thing that couldn’t have been ignored or handwaved was hand solo’s death. The movie does a good job of making people think it did anything impactful, but really it doesn’t.
The destruction of not Coruscant, for example, has absolutely fuck all meaning because there’s no context to it.
I disagree. The fundamental problem was trying to salvage TFA.
so you agree
stop being weird
a movie by Taika Waititi, 'release set for late 2023'
Looking forward to this!!!
You imply that the series was doomed from the start and there was nothing that could have been done after TFA.
no
i'm talking about the movies that actually were made
People who say the problem is TFA are missing the absolute hatred that TLJ has for you. TFA is slop. But it's generic action movie slop. It's not actively malicious. Most, if not all of the things it does that could be construed as malicious are out of incompetence. The events of the original trilogy being undone? It happened because they needed a new trilogy, and "rebels vs empire" was what they figured would be the safe bet.
Is it good? No. But it's like a fumbling buffoon making mistakes. TLJ is a sociopath who's looking you right in the eye as it sticks a knife in your gut.
Your skin is so thin you are in danger of losing a limb from a paper cut.
It's okay when rebels did it in Empire. Worst movie of all time btw.
you would still be a shit ass writer adding that
At your service
There hasn't been a Star Wars movie in six years, and it's because of TLJ. I don't need to defend myself. History has proven the damage the film caused.
It's because Rise of Skywalker was a disaster that damaged the brand, whereas people really liked The Mandalorian.
The Rise of Skywalker was entirely an attempt at picking up the pieces of TLJ. TLJ left no way for a trilogy to close out with any competence. What are you supposed to do? They killed of Snoke, and the only remaining threat was Kylo, who had repeatedly been bested and humiliated in the prior movies. You just going to have him lose again? Nonsensical. Bringing back the Emperor was ridiculous, but there was no proper move without getting rid of the trilogy format altogether.
The Mandalorian has nothing to do with anything, by the way. I don't know why you brought it up. It's a TV show, and it's only getting a movie seven years after the franchise crashed and burned.
the mandalorian
They ran that into the ground too
It’s impressive how mismanaged that whole affair was, we laugh at George but the sequels were still successful and spanned a fantastic universe of, at least for me, games
Mandalorian release dates: November 12-December 27 2019.
Rise of Skywalker release date: December 20 2019
The Mandalorian: Smooth production, widely praised by critics and fans
Rise of Skywalker: Trainwreck production, widely mocked
...And it's a TV show??? What are you trying to fucking say? The train wreck of TLJ derailing the plot of the trilogy totally destroyed ANY attempt they could have made to close out the films. We know the Trevorrow script was worthless too. Just made Kylo the villain, which doesn't work, since he got his ass kicked repeatedly beforehand. You can't just end the films with "...and he loses again."
it's all because of tfa
You could have easily made some safe, generic star slop with TFA as the base. TLJ was actively malicious, and salting the earth.
You expressed confusion about why there had not been a star wars movie for a long time, and suggested it was because the second movie of the trilogy was bad. I responded by pointing out there was a worse film that came out after that, and a good television program, accounting for the decision to switch entirely to television programs for a while.
They switched to TV because the movies turned into a train wreck. I am presenting that they were a train wreck because TLJ ruined the franchise. You easily could have made some 5/10 whatever Marvel blockbusters with TFA as the base. The entire franchise tainted in drama and politicized vitriol from TLJ.
nigga that is STARBOARD
youtube.com
I made this a while ago, maybe you guys will enjoy it, maybe not. I should have taken more time to clarify my points as I kind of ramble at points in frustration at the sheer insanity of what I was talking about, but I think I get the points across for the most part. The thesis is basically that TLJ actively shits on every Star Wars theme imaginable and actively hates Star Wars as a whole while betraying every lesson Luke learned in the original trilogy for cheap thrills. The idea that Porgs are nothing but "haha wow look at that haha" is how the entire movie was made; every alien, every plot point, and every character motive feels like Jonson thought "haha that would be fun to look at" rather than how it would serve a coherent story that builds upon the themes in Star Wars.
Can't believe I'm posting it on Anon Babble but this thread made me remember it and make it public again so here it is.
he paid to see it
lol
I went to see it alone at midnight release night because I really enjoy seeing movies and discussing them on Anon Babble afterwards. I was playing melee with the local community but no one was interested in going with me. I knew all of the stupid scenes from spoilers, and when Luke drank the titty milk I laughed to the point of crying. I was actually being obnoxious and had to stifle myself because it was such a surreal moment in time, I knew Star Wars was dead at that moment. I saw it again with some friends because my buddy's girlfriend wanted to see it and I fell asleep after completely tuning out. I later threw up undigested popcorn that very night same night.
