i still don't understand how "knives out" became a $500 million franchise like it's some fantasy worldbuilt universe or something when it's just a gu solving murder mysteries directed by rian johnson and that's the whole premise

the twist is that she can walk, but it's revealed within the first 15 minutes.
I would expect a twist like:

she's playing a hardcore method actor who insists on being in a wheelchair the whole time

it's revealed to everyone at the start that she can walk

the movie goes on and the fact that she can walk gets lost somewhere in the overly complicated plot

suddenly, a character remembers that a she actually could be suspected of doing something that a wheelchair bound person couldn't do

it turns out this was all a red herring and she didn't, in fact, do that thing.

Wheelchair girls are fun as fuck.

Looks too old, they should be accentuating her cherubic qualities

I don't even hate Rian Johnson like a lot of people do, but the last Knives Out movie was genuinely awful and I expect this one will be as well

Can someone tell Rian that an actually good murder mystery gives you enough information that you can guess who the killer is as the story unfolds? Bad mysteries do asspulls like “we lied and that scene you saw earlier didn’t actually happen,” and “oh yeah this thing you’d have no reason to know exists because it was never shown or talked about until the last act is actually super important.” It’s subverting expectations, sure, I get that on some level, but the expectations it subverts are of the movie being good or interesting
