Makes you stop connecting USB sticks to your TV

makes you stop connecting USB sticks to your TV

makes you stop connecting HDMI cables to your laptop

enhanced your kino viewing experience further than ever before

Why didn't Anon Babble tell me about this before?
It has changed my kino experience forever.

I tried doing that but it didn't really seem like much of an advantage.

I tried doing that but it didn't really seem like much of an advantage.

then you didn't use it

It's nice to have an interface for browsing but it transcodes everything, and shittily, so you can't play anything through it unless you enjoy all your videos stuttering. You have to use another app to play through that does a better job at transcoding, but if you have a pc connected anyways it's better to just do it directly.

but it transcodes everything

you can disable transcoding and use players that decode everything just fine.
only retards transcode.

but it transcodes everything

only if you want it to. transcoding is easily disabled. you only need to transcode if you use old TV smart apps

already way ahead of you

trans colors

trans coding

I can see why Anon Babble likes it.

you can use kodi with jellyfin

i just use kodi, what advantages does "using it with jellyfin" give?

i just use kodi, what advantages does "using it with jellyfin" give?

depends on how you use kodi. what's your server running?

You say that, but you're full of shit. If you disable transcoding it will simply refuse to play most media, and the stuff it will play is still.... shittily decoded and stuttery. It's a garbage media player, end of line.

just a computer running win10 and kodi on a tv accessing it through SMB

If you disable transcoding it will simply refuse to play most media

only if you are using old or shitty TV clients. all of my clients decode everything just fine with transcoding disabled.

use it to organise me JAV's too

Jellyfin serves as the backend, kodi isn't a server. Using them both is the best way to have a full suite solution, but as I said it's still shittier than just direct play.

just a computer running win10 and kodi on a tv accessing it through SMB

oh then you're fine.
most people on Anon Babble are retards who can't even set up SMB.

I'm talking about using nothing but jellyfin. I already said you need another app to play media, which is the whole issue. Work on your reading comprehension.

it's still shittier than just direct play.

you can direct play everything on jellyfin if you just use good clients, anon. why do you lie?

I've never heard of this app "Good Clients." Care to provide a link?

I've never heard of this app "Good Clients." Care to provide a link?

Lol you idiot. You know what I mean. You can use Kodi as a client. You can use mpv as a client. You have tons of options.

makes you stop connecting HDMI cables to your laptop

why would i want that. i have full control. i can take live screenshots of what im watching to discuss on threads like pic rel. i have a 75 inch second monitor

Jellyfin AndroidTV app uses google's ExoPlayer as it's default internal player.
The Desktop app uses MPV player which is significantly better.
Or you can use LibVLC on the AndroidTV app, that will direct play more stuff than ExoPlayer.
ExoPlayer fucking sucks and can't even play those old XviD dvdrips without needing to transcode.
Talk to google devs and they say it's a low priority to patch in compatibility for H.263 codecs anymore, which is simply fucking retarded.

you don't have to use kodi to be an earthrocker

set it up for my parents

they cancel all their subscriptions and think I'm some kind of genius

do pic related

type whatever the fuck i wanna see

watch it

move on with life

Yeah, I know what you mean. But you ignored my original point, so... pbbbbttttt

Plex is better tho

these apps are mostly for you to show off your pirated collection to friends or family

What reverse proxy are you using foe them?

I like it for personal use but it gets a bit cumbersome when sharing it with the family since I'm running it off of my PC, so no one can use it unless I'm home even though the files are in a NAS. I know I should get a dedicated server (or on the NAS itself but the one I have is a weak crappy entry-level one) to host 24/7 but I can't be assed to find out what I need.

The server's in their house. I connect to it over Wireguard using DuckDNS.

That's what a desktop is for

Then just use Kodi Jellycon

i have a desktop and still use my laptop. i have a 15 foot hdmi to usb-c cable and hook it up to my 75 inch tv from my bed and use it as a second monitor. no plans to change

Hahahah what a virgin

If you use a proper player, Jellyfin never has to transcode anything.

Only if your hardware is too shit to natively decode the files or if your player software is shite. It doesn’t transcode a single thing for me, all direct play (including AV1 4K DV HDR files).

Kodi is slow, cumbersome and doesn’t offer any benefit over Jellyfin. The only thing good about Kodi is that it has a very decent player.

all I use it for is the very decent player, I don't jerk off on the toilet or bus and keep track of how much I've jerked off and how much jerk off material I've used and syncing that across my jerk off peripherals

Plex works far better as a hosting option because of how easy it is to set up / set up for users

and it just werks

it's a macbook pro kid

all I use it for is the very decent player

Alright then.
No idea what the jerking off is about. Don’t use Jellyfin for your porn, use stash!

You're fucking retarded and don't even know what jellyfin is. It is an awful decoder and an even worse transcoder. It is a great media server, and that is absolutely it.

Way ahead of you pal but I got a Plex pass ages ago so I use that

Genuinely every movie or tv show is a 30 second download away and my parents dont even bother with streaming services

These autistic tv threads are what I imagine it’s like working with or talking to software engineers. In other words, everyone posting here should be killed

Even teenage girls have macbook pros these days, manchild

Jellyfin isn't a decoder. The clients can use any decoders they want. You just want to pretend Jellyfin is its own decoder to have an argument.

Dude just use another Android TV client like Kodi, VidHub, etc. There's new ones coming out all the time. Findroid is highly anticipated because it will run MPV on Android TV.

if you have an android tv made within the last 5 years jellyfin direct plays basically everything, even full remuxes without a stutter. what I'm getting at here is, skill issue.

The clients, the clients, THE CLIENTS

Stop saying jellyfin if you mean something else, retard. Jellyfin dosn't play anything flawlessly, so why do you keep saying it does?

open play store on tv

install jellyfin app

everything direct plays and just werks

idk what your problem is but it's not jellyfin

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about but then again I don't open "play stores" because I'm not a retard.

oh so you're probably just a dumbass boomer that's trying to use jellyfin on your 20 year old thinkpad hooked up to your 20 year old tv, no wonder it's not working out for you.

It works just fine for me, I'm just not stupid enough to think a media server is a media player. But it's pointless arguing about such things with a zoomer who thinks tick tock and jewtube is the epitome of video quality. Enjoy your algorithmic life.

It works on a raspberry pi 4
Get one, the official power adapter (not a cheap usb adapter)
Sd card
Network cable (or use wifi like a retard)
Install docker
Get the docker compose file for jellyfin
Done

have you tried installing more jewish spyware

No, why would I?
I control my media, I don't need other people to do it for me.

You're the one saying the default jellyfin client on Android TV transcodes everything and stutters even when it direct plays. That is not true. There's no need to make a distinction between server and client in this instance other than being autistic, because it just werks.

Stop using a client that doesn't do what you want and just use another Jellyfin client, dummy. You argue like a woman.

A flood of tech illiterate zoomers, as far as the eye can see.

says the person that can't get jellyfin to work

boomer can't figure out jellyfin

blames everybody else

Are you Jewish?

Ok no idea what all of those do, but what hardware does all of this run on?
I jave an HP proliant gen8 with 16GBs of RAM running esxi and my debian vm is full to the brim with docker containers. I now subscribed to a cloud root server to get some of the load off.
That setup sounds expensive af.

Techlets should neck themselves

I've tried jellyfin so many times over the years and it always has a dealbreaker for me at any given moment. Plex ain't perfect, but it's still better imo.
