They're trying to run Star Wars like they Marvel. They saw the kind of shit people respond to over in that camp and figured that this franchise could be handled similarly. That's why Filoni still has a job, because he's manchild enough to relate to the other manchildren and their love of playing with toys.

It comes across like like Disney writes stuff in an ultra bureaucratic and overly-collaborative way. All of their stuff reeks of passionless and diffuse horseshit. Like you might really love Star Wars, but Disney only allows you to write a scene and you have to write it with 3 other writers who are only there because they're a woman, a homosexual, and a person in a wheelchair and they all are strongly opinionated about shit that has nothing to do with Star Wars, but really want to use Star Wars as their therapy session to get it all out. After you write your scene which you're demoralized as shit about writing anyway because of the environment you're working in, the script gets passed to someone else to put their spin on it. There just doesn't seem to be true love or joy for the material, but rather indifference at best and genuine contempt at worst.

The episode before this one ( the Ashoka episode) was great. But this was the worst episode of the entire series up to that point and I was yelling if from the rafters at the time but nobody listened because ZOMG BOBA!!!!

From that episode I knew Rodriguez was washed and that BoBF would be a disaster. It's insane how far the guy fell off with directing. Desperado is god tier and The Faculty is underrated.
