I'd say since he was white and he's a first time offender he would've gotten off with 10+ years probation and restitution for life basically but he could face some time since the friend's wife testified he was too drunk to drive. It's a lot of factors, depends on the area as well and if the defendant has priors but NORMAL circumstances they wouldn't send him to prison but since there was a death I'd say he'd theoretically be given 5-10 years, serve 3 max and get probation and restitution unless there was a plea deal offer for less
