The game spread out all of these flashbacks in-between chapters. Worked way better for pacing and if they did it for the show they could have still advertised Pedro Pascal being in most episodes this season. The game did the story out of order, but it was a much more sensible out of order.

I wouldn't go so far to say it was terrible, as she had been in some previous episodes, but to me the main problem is that this Ellie is just not all that likable, not even as a kid, not even when repeating the same lines from the game. Ellie in the sequel could be a bitch at times and hold dumb grudges, but she was still always likable despite everything, and a lot of that had to do with her being a pretty and naturally charming girl. How were the directors this fucking stupid in the first place? How wasn't the golf club scene not a cliffhanger for the season finale? You could have literally fleshed out Abbies story the entire show then find out Abby is looking for Joel and have the cliffhanger being the part where Joel saves Abbie and Abbie realizing who he was.
It does get a 4th season, but it's close to a decade away because it's an adaptation of the Part 3 game that hasn't been made yet.

Giving us the front porch "I would do it all over again" scene worked right here but could be a huge fuckup down the line though. The final scene concluding this entire story will have to do something else

Most known talent is fluke based, it's like beating a boss in a soulslike. Sometimes it's just a fluke but you still won, you understand and have experienced the mechanics but even then that's not enough.
