I did too. I knew nothing about the movie outside of the cast, director, and vampires. The whole black people invented music shit is one of my pet peeves though so I was pretty much instantly turned off. If everyone who makes and likes music is stealing from black people, then that means Ryan Coogler is stealing from white people since he makes movies.

I tried giving this movie the benefit of the doubt. I lasted about 40 mins because I genuinely didn’t understand a word of what they were saying

Hollywood decided they wanted another Get Out, simply a mid-to-ok horror movie that will get glazed by Reddit and a million nominations because of the anti-white sentiment rather than its own quality. Get Out was a lot better than this movie. It at least had memorable and meme worthy stuff in it. Sinners felt like it was made for people who actually hate white people and the kind of white people that Get Out was making fun of.

I thought it was great. It was a little slow building up, but I appreciate having some backstory for the characters. The final scene with the kkk coming to kill everyone wasn't necessary, and they should have had them show up in the middle of the night while the vampires were there, forcing some kkk members to fight along side the black people. That would have been kino.

I don't mind a story being told from a black perspective. It didn't seem unbelievable and that's what matters. It wasn't BLACK PEOPLE GOOD WHITE PEOPLE BAD. That's just how shit was (and mostly still is) in rural mississippi.

It also doesn't insinuate that black people created music. In fact it shows the irish vampire is connected through music as well. It paints the picture that music is a sort of universal constant that connects us all.

I saw this movie with some friends, and even our group's token negro thought it was "mid" and overhyped.
It also leaves some weird loose ends.
What happened to the little Chinese girl after both of her parents died?
Why did the Cherokee vampire hunters just fuck off and never return? Total waste of interesting characters.
What did the people think when half of the people in town disappeared or were shot after most of the revelers went home? Are we supposed to believe that several prominent townsfolk like the local shopkeepers, voodoo witch doctor, etc. just disappeared and nobody questioned it? Like how nobody questioned that the whole Klan died in a gunfight with one black guy?
A better ending would've been Smoke sacrificing himself to save Sammy in the final battle, then the Klan showing up at dawn wondering WTF they just saw. Then the Cherokees arrive and tell everyone to keep the vampires a secret. The Klan will agree to just say they lynched everyone who got turned into a vampire and never speak of it again.
In the post-credits scene, make the bartender be the Chinese girl, but old. After Stack and the coal burning quadroon leave, she and Sammy have some dialogue indicating that Sammy's family took her in after her parents' disappearance, and while Sammy confided in her about the events of that night, she hadn't believed him for 60 years, even after following him to Chicago and opening a jazz club with him, she thought that his stories about vampires were just a response to a traumatic event.

by the end of Sinners i felt nothing, he literally mows down the KLAN and i felt empty.
I loved it when Eli Roth turned Hitler's face into paste, felt nothing in sinners, i dont even remember how half the characters died, it was so uninteresting.
I like black rage, Sorry To Bother You is a great film imo, sinners just wears black identity as a costume so it can pretend its something more meaningful thaan it actually is.
