I thought it was great. It was a little slow building up, but I appreciate having some backstory for the characters. The final scene with the kkk coming to kill everyone wasn't necessary, and they should have had them show up in the middle of the night while the vampires were there, forcing some kkk members to fight along side the black people. That would have been kino.
I don't mind a story being told from a black perspective. It didn't seem unbelievable and that's what matters. It wasn't BLACK PEOPLE GOOD WHITE PEOPLE BAD. That's just how shit was (and mostly still is) in rural mississippi.
It also doesn't insinuate that black people created music. In fact it shows the irish vampire is connected through music as well. It paints the picture that music is a sort of universal constant that connects us all.
