He never met Jesus though, but saw him in vision and used scripture as source. The historical evidence points to Jesus never having been a real person, but if I'm not mistaken Paul does testify to the existence of other apostles such as Peter.

Obviously most of the documentation is going to come from Christian sources, they’re the ones who would consider such information worth documenting. That’s the consensus between secular and Christian historians alike - you can either accept that or remain deliberately ignorant.

I used to believe naively and innocently as a kid, then after public schooling, I was a LARPer who still wanted to be Christian but le heckin progressive Christian and also maybe God doesn't exist! I just prayed and contemplated a lot and basically asked God to help me believe again. He did a genuine personal miracle (I was thirsty, prayed that God have a specific person bring me water and I would serve Him, and within minutes, that person came out and brought me water). I still didn't fully believe, but I just kept praying and asking for help and now I'm almost back to my childish faith, except I'm much more learned about it, so it's not really a naive faith, but I genuinely believe in my heart of hearts.
Pretty sure this is not the consensus. Jesus is generally agreed to have existed. In the 200 years between his death and the bible being written there were obviously many changes to his teachings, including the very dramatic (and stupid desu) change of making him god rather than just god's mortal son with no powers of his own. But there is reasonable evidence of a cult leader named Jesus existing at the time.
