I know it came out in 82 but it always felt like a 70's film to me.
Solid. Far better than any of the unnecessary sequels. And the book is fucking GREAT. Seriously. It's in the Kentucky mountains and Rambo slaughters the cops as he tries to make for Mexico. The movie was damn good, but a true adaptation would kick ass someday. Highly recommend the book, which is out of print:

I like, but I wish they made an episodic series based on the book. The book is really good.
It could maybe be a four part miniseries. To stay true to the book you wouldn't need much more than that. Or if they did like ten parts you could have like half an episode be Rambo with the moonshine guy and the kid. Or an episode in the mine with the bats. I'd like to see him after his escape in the war, all delirious.
But to try and make a multi-season show or something would be stupid. I'd still want the real ending for Teasle and Rambo both.
I don't think it's ever going to happen and that's okay. The movie was good and no one's rebooting shit while Sly lives anyway.
