Now that the dust has settled

This is the best movie I've ever watched. I can't even find one flaw. It's a masterpiece.

It's so over hyped it's absurd.

You know what there looking at?

The dialogue is difficult to hear. Makes the plot difficult to follow. I guess it isn't an issue when you've rewatched it a dozen times.

There is that once scene where a coat hanger disappears between shots.

neatpicking
the magic of cinema

Symbol for abortion, genius on par with Kubrick.
Not to mention she's got a GREAT ASS

This and Excalibur were my first DVDs.

It's a masterpiece.

I've been telling you this for years so obviously its very gratifying to hear you finally admit that I was right all along. Thank you anon. This has been quite a touching moment.

well, whats the next masterpiece that Anon Babble will discover?

it's both overrated and underrated at the same time. It's not best picture material but it's really solid. Thief is WAY better btw

you were born in the kino, molded by it

Now that the dust has settled

Fuck you. I like Heat and all but you're a lazy, unoriginal pile of SHIT, OP. Kill yourself.

i'm hoping sorcerer finally gets the credit it's due soon

Also, when Van Zant is killed you can see a cable (I assume for the blood squibs) running up William Fichtner's leg.

I will never be autistic enough to notice this shit in movies.

There’s one massive fucking flaw:the cop kills the criminal.

blood squibs

fortunately such archaic prop technology is no longer required

You just need to watch a movie over and over again (which is autistic in itself I guess) and you'll notice these things.
Kek. Yeah, I miss practical effects.

The romance between De Niro's character and his love interest might be the single worst romance in all of cinema. The rest of the movie is good that it doesn't matter, but that romance is dreadful, and it's an integral part of the plot.

i want to see romance from a sociopath criminal who just got out of years of solitary confinement and is willing to walk out on anything and anyone in 30 seconds flat like it's his religion

Fucking idiot
Pacino's romance is the same
The moral of the story is: peak high achievers in either robberies or police force they dont live normal lives, they are outliers, they are built different. Both had chances to escape their shit jobs and walk towards a happy ending but they didnt.

It's way too long and the pacing is atrocious. Also Pacino is way too hammy

I always thought the cable was some wire-type-snitch-shit so I just shrugged. At the end of the day it's his body and his choice - what, a man can't have a cable in his pants?

My only complaint is that Michael Mann shortened a couple of scenes and the current Blu-ray is way too dark.

Plus I think Thief is slightly better.

Us. The L-A-P-D. Is this guy something or is he something? Ha. Okay muthafucka!!!!

Yes that is another problem I had with the Blu-rays. They redid the audio and the dialogue is too low. The older Special Edition DVD which is basically the same as the old Laserdisc, the audio mix is done better, dialogue is higher up in the mix and the movie isn't cut in certain scenes.

Criterion is supposed to be coming out with that on 4K soon.

Terrible movie. Watch se7en instead.

The plot fuckin sucks and the gun fights are overrated, but the worst scene ever is the conversation between pacino and deniro, and the fucking redditors who think its dark and complex make my fuckin teeth itch.

yo-you dont like the LEGENDARY SCENE OF DENIRO AND AL PACHINO

Thief is slightly better.

The 3rd act is shit

movie goes on for 1 hour too long
mccauley's 'heat' manta is long winded and repeated like 3 times
the romance is a snoozefest

I remember watching it and feeling so disappointed that it was shit after hearing all the praise. There's more tension in GTA missions than this trash.

I JUST REMEBERED the worst scene is the finale. Zero tension and Pacino looks legit uncomfortable using a gun. The death is really poorly shot. Fuck that movie.

Please recommend movies with a similar vibe. Men living on the edge, urban scenery, bleak lightning, liminal spaces, balance of solitary introspection and cathartic violence.

Collateral

Thief is WAY better btw

Never understood this. Mann is maybe my favorite director, but all his films do everything Thief does better (The Keep is in its own category, and I'm not watching Will Smith play Ali).

but the worst scene ever is the conversation between pacino and deniro

No the worst scene ever is Pacino confronting the sobbing mother after finding the corpse of her whore daughter. The constant spinning circles is just weird as fuck.

Ever notice in Gladiator one of the chariots has a modern tank under it as it slides?

There are 1000 worse romances in "serious" movies, dumbass.

Literally most other Mann films.

Also To Live and Die in LA, although the lighting isn't bleak, it meets the other criteria.
