I think his cinema is aesthetically very important and for me personally quite compelling. They capture the whole white trash texture and aesthetic pitch perfectly. He is Rembrandt of white trash, it's kind of genius.

But what really gets me is Rob is a HUGE fucking MEGA-FANATIC of The Munsters, and he fucked it up SO bad you'd think he was Rian Johnson. And NO amount of studio interference had Rob getting the basic core fundamentals of the characters so fucking wrong. Even as a "prequel", it just wasn't the same characters or spirit. Hell, the reason he "peaked" with Devils Rejects is because Sid Haig carried him so fucking hard and Rob sucks without Sid.

I agree that showing Michael as a kid at the beginning of Halloween (2007) was unnecessary. The way his dad, or whoever that guy was, was lusting after Michael's sister was just absurd. It's scarier if Michael comes from a "normal" and "happy" home and upbringing and one day a switch flicks inside his head and he becomes The Shape, rather than him having a stripper for a mother, etc.
