"Original" punks are Sex Pistols (created to sell a fashion trend), New York Dolls (apolitical) and Ramones (one of them was hard conservative, others ambivalent / liberal). The CBGB scene was on the experimental side of things, post-punk origins basically. The political punk shit came later around the 80s in fact which such bands like Black Flag (formed early but came into their own in the 80s) and The Dead Kennedy's, this is when both extreme left punks and actual nazi punks started popping up. The "original" punk was essentially pop-punk in genre and spirit (especially Sex Pistols, basically existing to sell a new fashion trend), but not really cringe. The experimental and post-punk stuff was great and the 80s punk revival that took the fashion shit from the "original" punks (notably Sex Pistols again) and added whatever politics they felt like is the cringe corny punk but also what everyone associates punk with, even if the bands they think of are "originals" like Sex Pistols or Ramones, the aesthetic that stuck with people is still the 80s punk one.
There was of course Steve Albini with his projects, Big Black most notably, and he was like proto-00s Anon Babble shitposter, basically an edgelord who did not take shit seriously, but people like him were in the grander scheme of things outliers and he did fall into trolls remorse later on in life, becoming a hard-progressive.

The Katyn Massacre. The Soviets butchered a shitton of Poles, blamed it on the Nazis, and then hanged a bunch of them for it. It turns out the Germans didn't even know they had done it, they just tortured guys into confessing it. This wasn't discovered until the Soviet Union collapsed.

So then, the Soviets liberate the concentration camps in the East, the Americans and British liberate the ones in the West. All of the "Death Camps" are in the East, a bunch of people are tortured into confessing to killing more Jews than there were in all of the camps combined, and then hanged. This then becomes the basis for Leftists to bludgeon every form of Nationalism (coincidentally the ideological enemy of Communism) for 80 years and counting. Even questioning it is illegal in multiple countries. Is there a written order anywhere for the holocaust? No. The British cracked German military codes early, is there any mention in any communication of the holocaust? No. Are they shipping massive quantities of cremation fuel to Auschwitz? No. Are they shipping more Xyklon to Auschwitz? No. Are they putting extra effort into hiding these camps? No. Does anyone near the camps notice anything going on? No.

It's so fucking obvious that the Soviets just made it all up. It gave them an excuse to draw attention away from the fact that THEY had just murdered tens of millions of people for no reason including the people they were ostensibly protecting from the big bad Nazis, murders which their internal records openly gloat about and detail. While it's true they lied about the Katyn massacre, this doesn't logically extend to the entire holocaust. Katyn was localized event with only 20,000 deaths or so. The Holocaust spanned millions across Europe, with evidence from survivors, perpetrators, and bystanders in multiple countries—far beyond Soviet control.

The US, UK, and others also documented the holocaust independently of Soviet input. So for you to say they made it all up is discounting mountains of evidence that the soviets wouldn't have been able to influence, as well as the reports from 10s of thousands of survivors from the death camps themselves.
