Does it still hold up?
Does it still hold up?
The Book doesnt even hold up. Anything by Jack Vance or Robert E howard is better. Hell, THe hobbit and silmarillion are better then LotR.
It's kino
Only Fellowship
the lack of diversity makes me a little uncomfortable
the fact that no movie has come close to topping it in 25 years is fucking depressing
Did this hack hate it?
Extended Fellowship does.
Not only does it hold up, it's the gold standard for cinema.
If you do extended fellowship and theatrical two towers and return of the king, it's solid
Extended TT and ROTK are dogshit, the editors saved Hackson
They eviscerated the book by making it an action movie for young people aged 15 to 25, and it seems that The Hobbit will be the same kind of film.
Tolkien has become a monster, devoured by his own popularity and absorbed into the absurdity of our time. The chasm between the beauty and seriousness of the work, and what it has become, has overwhelmed me. The commercialization has reduced the aesthetic and philosophical impact of the creation to nothing. There is only one solution for me: to turn my head away.
I've only ever watched the extended editions of all 3 films. I'll check out the theatrical cuts for two towers and return
George you fat fuck. Give it a rest.
Fellowship is kino of the highest order. If I could only watch one more movie for the rest of my life, it would be Fellowship of the Ring.
There are a lot of films better than LOTR. Let's be honest, LOTR is just fantasy capeshit. It's not complex or thought provoking. It's on the same level as Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, etc.
films better than LOTR
Name them. Only films release AFTER LOTR count.
this one? yes a lot in fact
I watched it last week for the first time (I read the book first) and it was pretty great. I really liked them.
La Vie Nouvelle
Un Lac
Under The Skin
Inland Empire
Elegy of a voyage (same year as LOTR)
The Turin Horse
Enter the Void
Faust (2011)
Holy Motors
I could go on, but you get the idea. Stop watching Hollywood slop
No one has ever heard of any of these films except for you.
What was his problem?
I agree, it's weird how "different" the two sequels feel considering the same people worked on all three movies and they were all effectively shot back-to-back. I guess the sequels had more CGI shoe-horned in after the success of the first film.
IT HAS BEEN REMADE

It's on the same level as Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, etc.
You mean legendary cinema?
Fucking nerd lmao

It's not complex or thought provoking

he is a low iq pseudointellectual communist
I didn't know anything about the behind the scenes or really politics at all, but as a kid I always had the feeling spirited away hated me. Everything i've learned about him made perfect sense.

Under The Skin
Inland Empire
Enter the Void
Holy Motors
Based picks. Capeshitters seething in the replies lol
