it’s a Snitchin’ Bubs episode

If Bubbles was so well known in the community and some people knew he was a snitch, how the fuck wasn’t he ever killed for it? Randy almost got murdered after just the thought of him being a snitch got around

He wasn't known to be a snitch on the streets. That's why he was an effective one.

Only Omar knew and he was snitching too

Nobody knew. Being a heroine junkie is the absolute lowest position in the game. Bubbles used that to his advantage and nobody cared

Was there a character that fucked over more characters than this guy? He might have been responsible for some of the funniest moments in the series, but holy fuck I hate Herc

IMG_0635.jpg - 1200x675, 120.03K

Yes, the crimes of herc are well known

fuzzy dunlop: eventually getting him and his partner discharged

not answering that kid's phone call which ended up ruining 2 lives and ending one

getting off scott free at the end

Also when Carver brought in Randy for protection and Herc for no fucking reason has an autism fit over a missing camera and takes it out on Randy.

Fucked over Bubs by not helping him with the guy beating on him too. Isn’t he the reason Marlo walks at the end as well?

drives the mayor around

gives him a blowjob to make rank.

PANDEMIC

Got that WMD, right chyea right chyea

all in the game

I know it’s the point but I always get bummed the fuck out about how Omar goes down. The fact that the little shit Kenard was the one who did it and that Marlo essentially won (besides the “my name” shit) fucks with me

I like how everyone always glosses over the fact that Bubbles is a pedohile. The REAL reason his sister didn't want him upstairs near her daughter, the actual reality of the Sherrod situation, the scene where McNulty takes Bubbles to his kids soccer game and Bubbles has his hands down his pants fondling himself while watching the kids... I guess he gets a pass because his story arc is so heckin' wholesome.

marlo didn't win though, how'd you miss that?

Marlo "winning" was peak though he doesn't win he probably gets shot on the street like nothing. Omar should've went down sooner so them rectifying it by having some street kid just blast him out of nowhere is way closer to the reality

I meant just in the battle vs Omar. His name was tarnished so I guess it’s debatable

im not exactly a deep viewer but can anyone else affirm this take? I've seen the show twice all the way and I never grasped that

Was Bodie a decent man?

Bodie.jpg - 281x355, 84.58K

The real reason his sister didn't want him upstairs is because he's a fucking drug fiend. Bubbles's situation is resolved by the end.

no shit he won against Omar, whose gonna win? one guy with plot armor on his own just waltzing around with his gun, or a guy with some of the best lieutenants who lays low and has a ton of grunts on his pay roll

he was one of them bitches on the chessboard

True, just the fact that it’s Kenard who seems to be set up to be a legit sociopath. Calling Omar a gimpy motherfucker when the dude had jumped out of a damn building lol

He was for his circumstances.

He was a good soldier. Decent man not so much

Marlo had plot armor and forced relevance - two extremely loyal assassins who would kill and die for him while he does nothing himself the entire time

He would have 100% been killed well before he rose to power either by his enemies or by his killers

still smarter than bell

shame he had to get assraped and murdered on Oz in order to get this much better role on Wire

Does anyone feel this guy dug his own grave? Especially with Avon?

Marlo is the product of the Game, and it's very clear to me he will be killed by the game and another dozen marlos produced behind him

I think they were so good at their jobs for Marlo because they actually enjoyed it. Snoop was always hungry to drop bodies. They picked up Michael thinking he was stone cold like them but he wasn’t in the end

Absolutely. String is characterized by being not as smart as he thinks he is (still smarter than the average piece though)

you misunderstand their dynamic, Marlo and Chris clearly had grown up close and had that brotherly dynamic, as far as Snoop she probably had to become extremely hard to survive as a woman in her place and Marlo and Chris probably showed her respect and made good use of her to the point where they earned each others respect, their dynamic was the most believable part, obviously they were TOO effective of killers but theres always somebody who gets a high body count even irl

There have been drug dealers with his sort of vibe historically. Look at the "Thin Man" (Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo). He gives of the same personality vibes (Sees the bigger picture but greatly lacks charisma)

which way was the way and why was it that way and not the other way

herc is just a stand-in for the average jar head policeman who cannot grasp that the work is about more than enforcing

The shots of Omar just wandering around the hood aimlessly were really sad and pathetic
If Kenard didn’t pop him someone else would’ve
He was at the end of his rope

the way is that you don't get respect just cause you a man in a position and you gotta bow down to the ganglords if you wanna survive, its that way because they don't give a shit that you're a man, you can't just "show respect" by acknowledging who he is and expect to get respect back because its not a transactional arrangement

Yeah he goes to work for the jew lawyer and uses his cop connections to help get Marlo a deal.

Maui. He gave up the whole operation on the docks to Beadle just because he was a simp and had a crush on her. He didn't even get to fuck the hag roastie afterwards. This led to his co-workers either getting arrested, becoming homeless or dying in Frank's case.

Watch the wire for the first time

Never seen bubs memes or any real mention of him if ever confronted with wire related stuff in passing

Every time he's on screen it hurts

Not because he's a bad actor

But because he reminds me of a close friend

We all did drugs but he was never able to stop

Eventually steals from us and goes full bonkers

It was obviously addiction but fuck you couldn't trust him in your own home.

Over a decade later he's clean

Actually repaired relationship with his family and somehow is the more liked and respected child of his siblings(ones a tranny)

No matter how great he looks and sounds can't help but think of the past

Can't help but remember all the times he would say he's sober now

Would ask how long he's been sober

With a straight face would say shit like an hour

Nows he's better off than some of my friends who never went that route

Still can't get over all the crazy shit and look past it

Can't see anyone else but the animal he once was

Can see everyone who knew him like that hold him at arms length of he's lucky but mostly they act like he's someone who died a long time ago tragically

Can't rewatch the wire because of all the shit it reminds me of

Even some of the scenes from the sopranos when Chrissy was a junky hurt too much

Actually killed his girlfriends cats by accidentally passing out in his car with them coming back from a vet visit

He barely survived heat stroke but the cats in their cages didn't

Look back and feel like I failed someone I once called brother

Still too scared to try and be close to him again

I'm sorry JD. Sometimes I wish I could trade places with you.

Marlo didn't win. His ego and sense of self doesn't align with who he is now. That leads to internal psychological suffering

why does it being the other way mean he needs to be killed

Wire was kino cause it had seemingly innocuous characters like Herc who don't seem that important but as it develops he becomes a key figure that represents exactly why the system is fucked up, theres a lot of those characters in the wire and in Herc's case hes the stand in for the police officers who fall upwards making the system worse along the way until they are directly adjacent to a serious obstruction of real justice

the jew lawyer he worked for, it isn't even an argument the most damage done to the most people is jew lawyer or maybe clay davis

because in Marlo's eyes he showed disrespect in Marlo's land and he can't let that shit slide, might hurt his name

still smarter than the average piece though

i dont know, he had the motivation and applied himself yet couldnt even ace some community college's economics 101. the guy acted smug as if he had just earned a nobel prize after almost getting the perfect grade for some assignment. fucking herc would have done better than him if he tried half as much

Marlo's actor is underrated, his character was perfect for what it was and I watched him recently in Bosch which is season long cop procedural and Bosch himself is good but his partner (marlo's actor) really rounds out the whole thing but this time as a more amusing fancy suit wearing black cop. Huge amount of wire actors show up in Bosch

if hes cleaned himself up be a good friend to him even if its just on a casual basis

why would stringer not always have a gun on him regardless of what he was doing, obviously any government facility in baltimore is gonna have cops and metal detectors but then you just leave it in the car

He wasn't a smart ass pawn.

Marlo had plot armor and forced relevance - two extremely loyal assassins who would kill and die for him while he does nothing himself the entire time

Chris was loyal to Marlo because they probably have known each other for a long time. On top of that, Chris didn't seem to want to be a leader

He would have 100% been killed well before he rose to power either by his enemies or by his killers

He literally would have if Avon as at the helm. Avon going to jail opened a power vacuum and since Stringer was not really interest in the thug side of the business, he basically allowed Marlo with ease to gobble up the former territory.

He thought his briefcase was enough

When clay Davis called DA Bond "Obonda" and everyone laughed, you knew Clay was going to get off.

if hes cleaned himself up be a good friend to him even if its just on a casual basis

I've been trying. We meet up very occasionally and I try to act like it's all good but it's like my fight or flight instinct kicks in and I'm always on the defense. Our other mutual friends won't acknowledge him at all. It's like even if he returned all the stuff he stole or paid for it I don't think it would help. Anyone of my family says they'll call the cops if they merely see him around their home so I have to keep my relationship with him pretty much a secret from most people sadly. A few years ago he was involved in a trial where one of his more junky friends he met through meth dealers overdosed. All I could think of the scene where bubs accidentally poisoned his protege. The worst part were the details of it all. He finally opened up to me about it and explained why he was on trial for the death. He woke up to his friend OD'd. He then searched the place trying to find his drugs and when he realized his friend did all his drugs he flipped out and started beating him trying to wake him up but also taking his anger out on him. Coroner cleared him though because the guy speedballed on like four different drugs apparently. Plus the way bodies bruise or some shit.

foid detected

I skip every scene of his on rewatch. Just don't care...

why wasn't the snitch junkie who is a community wide active informant to the cops killed?

killing him would have caused the police to actually give a shit about a murder in the hood and everyone already knew he was a junkie not even worth dropping, every junkie snitches if you put them up to dry and squeeze them that's why no one trusts junkies with shit

does nothing himself

Didn't he shoot the bitch that Avon was using to get to him?

Makes no sense to me. It would have been a bigger mog to leave him on his post, cucked and unable to do anything as marlo openly steals in front of him. He had pretty much achieved that, the guard tried to reason with him but Marlo easily intimidated him into compliance. I think this was a just shitty hack plot to make sure audiences undersood marlo was le bad

what'd he do again (to deserve being murdered)?

talked back

Cartoon villain tier shit. It doesn't even make sense to kill him "to send a message" since they hid away his body anyway.

fuzzy dunlop

kek, it's been a long time since i've watched the show, i forgot about that name

It was Marlo being allies with the LGBT community. Homophobes want it to be one way and that's straight, the guard got what he deserved.

why would stringer not always have a gun on him?

because he knew he had the cops eyes on him and he tried to be "the bank" and legit, if regular baltimore cops would have wanted to fuck with him they would have pulled fuzzydunlops witness testimony that stringer had a gun on him and patted him down to fuck with him, stringer had low opinion of baltimore cops abilities for a long ass while so he probably assumed they would try to pull something scummy like that to get to him and having a felony weapon on you doesn't sound like the smartest of ideas
also a 9mm wouldn't have saved him from mister chinese funeral and stick up tie

I always thought it was an interesting way to show the difference between Avon and Marlo. Avon freaks the fuck out on the ref at the basketball game for a blown call, then gets even more pissed that the ref is scared of him and not defending himself. Avon didn’t want people being pussies around him

Do you think Jay Landsman would have really let Bubbles walk like that? Seemed too nice of him

Jay was an asshole and a company man but he also had a heart.

The charges would have been weak anyway. Having rat poison in a vial in your pocket isn't a crime, and he never attempted to pass it off as drugs to the bully nog. Would have been a waste of time, especially in the midst of all the bodies from the vacants.

The Wire is improved if you skip every Bubs scene

When they air the wire on BET, they cut out all the dock worker scenes.

Wouldn’t that make season 2 confusing as fuck? Why not just skip the entire season at that point

But I bet (hehe) they kept the scene where method man torches the car.

I like that Prop Joe obviously sees that Cheese fucked up big time by doing that when Nick is telling him but then still proceeds to say that Nick would be a dead man if he wasn’t with the Greeks

I’ve got that bottle rocket over here, yo

no. he shot his friend and his dumb decisions got everyone else around him killed before he said fuck it and just started cozying up to Mcnutty careless if it would get him killed. Marlo buck broke him

as if people who watch BET can follow a plotline

I’m curious to know how it would have played out if Bodie wasn’t spotted talking to McNulty. Would he really testify on Marlo? Wouldn’t that ruin his life because he’d be known as a snitch?

omar went to court to snitch on one of the barksdale crew. The whole co op should have put all business aside to take care of that. like some NATO shit

herc

he's dipped in shit

motherfuckers need to shut the fuck up

Did he grow a beard because of Namond insulting the shape of his chin?

IMG_0643.jpg - 588x426, 34.18K

for real

It was probably pretty sweet for this actor to have a pretty juicy role after which the writers could have easily written him off the show

YYUUUURRRRRPPPPPPP
