It could have in the 1990s

fpbp

I like how half of OT era books are just them walking back on the Empire being defeated by a cripple tossing an old man down a shaft

Star Wars should be animated. Animation is the only way to portray and consume the story. How about you give that money to telling the story instead of giving it to a sodomite degenerate to play pretend?

lol Star Wars writers getting desperate

All depends on who gets put on it creatively. That's the bigger question

the shared universe of the comics, books and games that existed from 1990-2010 or so was stellar. Some were shit, but even the shitty ones worked in tandem with the rest, and the good ones were great. If they were smart they'd literally just ditch all SW content created by disney at this point and start re adapting all this stuff. Taking small bits and pieces and throwing them in as a hail mary hasn't really done much, and they're about to waste thrawn and his trilogy in one probably shitty movie that may or may not even get made at this point. Mandalorian was pretty good but they threw that out the window. Andor and R1 pretty good but also very over. The prequel era is tapped out from the clone wars and related shows, the post jedi stuff is cucked and once filoni verse wraps up in a couple of movies/shows from now they'll have bridged the gap more or less into the garbage sequels. Which means all they have left is post sequel trilogy which no one gives a shit about.

Literally best to just start over from scratch but doing the things people actually like while there's any demographic left to consume this shit. Right now there's still a lot of people aged maybe 25-60 that would be invested. If they wait another 10-15 years to do this shit they'll be courting 40 year olds and up, so not nearly as viable.

It 100% could. Tweak a few of the bad ideas like Luuuke and the ysalamiri and you've got a very good trilogy of films.

True. Visions is basically the best thing Disney ever gave us and the last time Star Wars was proper kino since '03 and '04.

Damn should I read these in 2025? I was born in 2001 so these are way before my time

LeCartoons are actually kino man!

I know you’re fat.

To that effect, anything high-concept should be animated that involves fantasy/sci-fi. Having real people play pretend on sets never appealed to me. Give me Clone Wars any day of the week.

Not under Disney and it would be hard to recast characters from the OT even if someone competent was to make it. It would work the best if it was all CGI like SWTOR trailers but that would be quite expensive.

Not really. They're not very cinematic and the best finale out of the three is a shitty clone fight.

its one of the few post RoTJ stories that could actually work as a movie

No, I read the books, There's things in the Thrawn trilogy just as goofy as Leia flying thru space. People just liked Star Wars to be super serious all the time prior to the Prequels, which is why fans shit and pissed themselves over how they re-wrote their personal head canons.

There's things in the Thrawn trilogy just as goofy as Leia flying thru space

name 3

Not really. They're kind of long winded, and not very cinematic. Not that they're necessarily bad (for EU books) they just wouldn't translate.

Now the original han solo origin story? That would have been kino. Baskin Robert's doppelganger quipping and being whacky was really a letdown.

I read these recently and accross 3 books there is only enough material for maybe 2 movies if you stretch it. There needs to be an additional antagonist in addition to thrawn and C'boath. and filmakers should consider having thrawn survive.

Also the book touches on the concept in one or two lines but they should explore the concept of master C'both being simultaneously possessed by the 5 force ghosts of the jedi who perished in the outbound flight project. Imagine a character that ine scene is rash impulsive, the next timid and scared, the next pensive and calm. He can even hallucinate or hear voices of the deceased jedi could be kino

The force immunity lizards that Thrawn just happens to find.

Force ghosts have life spans!

Mary Jane Watson, the red headed love interest-- er, I mean, Mara Jade the red headed love interest.

BONUS additional three:

EVIL CLONE LUKE SKYWALKER!

Random evil Jedi who's been alive and hiding who Thrawn recruits

LOL Thrawn gets outsmarted when the giant space drills he's using drill thru his ships

Mad faggot detected.
The 03 Clone Wars cartoon was one of the few times Star Wars was actually kino.

not anymore
legends is non canon

Couldn't tell you a single thing about the Han Suul trilogy other than I fucking loved it and his OTP waifu in it was far better than Leia

The actual most kino part of Legends

Retards hate it because they want their setting about literal magic and destinies and the fall of Rome to be a hard mil sci fi.

None of those things is a tenth as zany as Leia Poppins.

Force immunity lizards

They evolved to be dead spots in the Force because their predators hunted through the Force. It's even implied the Jedi/Republic suppressed knowledge of the planet which is why no one knew.

Force ghosts have lifespans

Why wouldn't they eventually pass on to whatever next life?

A force sensitive besides Luke exists

Why not?

Evil clone Luke

It made sense the empire would retrieve his hand/lightsaber, and that Cbaoth would mindjack a clone

Random evil Jedi

He was a crazy clone and he wasn't hiding he was marooned

Thrawn gets outsmarted

Everyone makes mistakes, even Evil Space Sherlock Holmes

Yes, and it should have been made back in the early 90s when the actors were only TEN years older.
I think the books took place about ten years after ROTJ.
So it would still fit, and they could have introduced so many characters that frankly, Star Wars would have been able to hand off the leading roles to new people and continued.
We should have gotten this trilogy instead of the prequels.
I have my own issues with the prequels, but they were not terrible. It was neat to see how Anakin became Vader. But with Han and Leia's kids, and the students at Luke's Jedi Academy being in training, hell, even Corran Horn being introduced. I think that was around the time he was introduced. Or was it just Booster Terrik? Fuck, he would have been cool too. Grown ass grandfather playing smuggler/bounty hunter with an Imperial Star Destroyer that he painted red.
Disney really fucked up.
Sure they would have caught flak if they didn't do the characters exactly right, but they would have been around enough for a few sequels and extra appearances to wiggle them around and adjust the writing for them.
More importantly, future Jedi and Sith after ROTJ would have been introduced. To carry the franchise into further movies.
I mean, no one likes the sequels, and after killing off Luke, Leia, and Han, there's not really anyone left.
Plus, Thrawn was cool. NuThrawn is not cool.

I don't remember if how Luke won against Palps and Vader was common knowledge. I think all the general public knew was that Luke singlehandedly fought Vader and Palpatine, and won.
A lot of the Rebellion higher ups would know that Luke lost and Vader took out Palpatine, but what kind of story is that to cow your enemies into submission? Better to leave it at Luke being so strong that he took them out, to scare the Remnant.

Disney owns rights, most bloated, cowardly production studio of all time.
Of course they'll make it, it's free established, widely loved IP they own.
Theyll make it and itll take everything you love about the books and shit all over it, I promise.

Gonk.

Sorry your baby shit books are equally as fallible as the nu-moivies

>Force ghosts have life spans!

I don't see an issue with this. Kind of cheapens the fact that they're dead if they really can just hang around indefinitely. If anything, this would've been perfect for the sequel trilogy in order to cover up the planet sized plot hole that is

why anakin never showed up for his family at their actual lowest points

I like the idea of Alliance propaganda post-Endor showing a shirtless beefcake Luke with a six-pack, staking a sniveling cowering Palpatine through the heart with his lightsaber under a big slogan like "Comrade Skywalker purges the fascist vampire! Volunteer Today!" or some such.

I thought the Noghri idea was pretty cool. A race of beings that saw the Empire as their savior and Vader as a god.
The lizards, yeah, I can see how they could exist, but really.
A flash trained year old clone of Luke from his severed hand and wielding his old lightsaber?
It just worked.
I don't know how many clones there turned out to be in the end. The first was enough.
Plus, Mara Jade. I have no idea why she was so hated by Lucas.
Who else fantasizes about a partially evil hot redheaded dommy mommy trying to kill you before she falls for you and has your babies?
I mean, Lucas had Joanne Whalley ON FUCKING SPEED DIAL, and she had already played almost that exact part in Willow in 1988.
Plus, this was back in the day when actors were expected to be able to do SOME of their own fighting and action rather than just having an Orgazmo Stunt Cock cut that we all see and notice. Joanne fit the right amount of hotness, fieriness, and was decent at stabbing and kicking people. A pair of colored contacts, and voila. Instant Mara Jade.

Hey look, I'm on the Empire's side considering what came later with the Yuuzhan Vong.
The Empire delayed an invasion of billions of fanatics that hate technology.
The only reason the Yuuzhan Vong attacked and killed trillions was because of the Empire's downfall. They didn't want to attack until the Empire was gone.
What did the Empire do? Kill a few billion? Who cares?
They saved every single living being in the SW universe from the Yuuzhan Vong.
Because if they had invaded when they originally wanted to, all of the SW universe would have ended up dead without the Empire.
And Yuuzhan Vong believe that dying violently in the service of their goals is the highest honor you could achieve.
So, the Empire did nothing wrong.
As Palpatine pointed out, he would make what he did legal.
