I think it's a good idea to have someone make sure, in the planning stages of the film, that the actors are aware of, and okay with, everything sexual that is going to be filmed, and understand the way it's going to be filmed. I don't think it's a good idea to just get on set and go "Alright, now pretend to have sex" without any previous discussion and agreement about what is going to happen.

I can't see that being a full time job on set though, more of a consultant position.
