They weren't kidding with this movie
They weren't kidding with this movie
My parents caught me jerking off to the whipping scene and beat the shit out of me which, in hindsight, is pretty understandable. This gore smut was hyper-fetishized though so at least I have that as a defense.
Remember the book of Isaiah states he will be beaten so bad he would no longer have the visage of a man, meaning he would barely look human because of the flogging. NIV - 52:14
Just as there were many who were appalled at him — his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness—
Correct! Even the scene when the soldiers pulled his bones out of joint was a direct fulfillment of Psalm 22:14. Mell Gibson was completely at a different level creatively. He was basically untouchable that year. He did his homework for sure.
Things that never happened.
Love this movie. It’s in my yearly Easter time playlist along with The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur, The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Why did you reject European religion in favor of jewish fables?
Are you asking me why I’m not larping as a European folk pagan?
Why did you adopt the morality of 3000 year old sandniggers?
Passion of the Christ?
More like Crashout of the Shyst
probably because whites did.
What do you mean? Christianity goes directly against the Jewish morality.
ayeeee lOOoove u jesuuUUuus chriiIIIiiiIIIIIIIIIIIIIISTUH...
They? or (((they)))?
I didn’t adopt anything, you did. My grandfather didn’t pray to Odin in a foxhole during WWII. I have pride in my heritage and culture because I have pride in who I am and where I came from. I don’t need to go looking for that. I think ancient European folk religions are fascinating and worthy of studying, teaching and respecting but I certainly
didn’t grow up with it.
By all objective metrics it's one of the greatest films ever made and one of the best of this century so far.
I just want more movies exactly like this but about the saints and religious stories more broadly. Silence got close.
the thief on the cross moment made me cry like a fucking child
its so timeless sometimes forget is a movie from the 2000s but yeah i would agree, maybe a little square on cinematography but working with religious stuff already makes for good cinematography in it of itself
the scene where Mary runs to him after seeing him fall because it reminded her of when he was a young boy falling down
Every time.
Unfortunately my mother ruined my life completely and stole all my inheritance and squandered it, so I can't imagine how it is to have anyone love you.
Last Temptation was better.
Christianity goes directly against the Jewish morality.
That's strange, Jesus taught strict adherence to the Jewish Law.
corny garbage flick
real kino
Yeah I just remembered him telling people to go forth and have orgies in front of golden idols and slaughter neighboring tribes and cut off their dicks as trophies and enslave non-Jews through usury thanks Obama.
You should read the gospel of John and acts of the apostles
Yes, which is inherently unjewish.
John
Written at least 50 years after Jesus death and likely by early Christians attempting to defame Jews. His overall message contained in the Synoptic gospels was extreme adherence to the Jewish law.
Yes, which is inherently unjewish.
That makes no sense.
I was gonna watch this but im too lazy to watch something that long with subtitles
His overall message contained in the Synoptic gospels was extreme adherence to the Jewish law.
No it wasn’t. None of the gospels were. Jesus was a literal new covenant. For example, one of the main differences between early Christianity and their Jewish counterparts was the rejection of animal sacrifice. Christ being the final sacrifice. This is just something off the top of my head that differentiates the earliest Christian churches in both dogma and practice.
No it wasn’t. None of the gospels were. Jesus was a literal new covenant.
Ok retard, twist yourself into a pretzel to convince yourself that Jesus was not a Jewish doomsday prophet.
Greatest Christian film ever made is a torture porno
Really weird you guys...
the savior of humankind is a flagelated martyr
yeah who wouldve thought
Why would they hurt Jesus so badly when he was a nice guy who just wanted to eat bread and wine?
Amazing post.
This is why I find quite stupid, when redditors try to say something like, "the movie is sadistic and we shouldn't focus on Jesus' suffering", Jesus was publically humillated and tortured. What were those people expecting? The romans to be nice with someone that was about to die a painful death?
The suffering, death and resurrection of Christ are crucial parts of Christianity.
Why would they hurt Jesus so badly when he was a nice guy who just wanted to eat bread and wine?
Tends to happen when you harbor insurrection against an empire known to torture people to death.
He was the hebrew messiah. I don’t claim otherwise. “Jews” are hebrews who descended from the tribe of Judah, one of the twelve tribes of Israel. There is a difference, and Jesus was the messiah to all of the hebrews, as well as all men.
mfw I share this board with people who don't speak Aramaic
Those are always people who have never performed or witnessed a performance of the stations of the cross so they literally don’t know the story
You mean the religion that is all about enduring the suffering of the world, while keeping hope, finds meaning in a movie, depicting God Himself embracing pain with us?
Yeah really weird.
He was the hebrew messiah.
The Hebrew Messiah was not going to get tortured to death. That’s why the Jews rejected him.
I feel as though this post speaks for itself and I need not respond. Good night.
European religion
Which European religion? No, seriously. Which one? Celtic, German, Roman, Visigoth, Gaul?
What do you think it really means? Did Jesus really save us all with his sacrifice or is there some kind of other take away he meant?
You’ll understand when you graduate middle school lol
Did Jesus really save us all with his sacrifice or is there some kind of other take away he meant?
No, he was a Jewish doomsday prophet who thought God was two weeks away from returning. He thought he was going to be God’s right hand man. The authorities caught wind of this and killed him like a criminal because he was fermenting a rebellion.
Whats the point now that you can readily just watch the real thing (third worlders getting tortured)
Please say “Allah doesn’t exist and Muhammad was a faggot” for us
Fomenting a rebellion, ESL.
watching Jewish propaganda
Why?
out of curiosity, have yall ever seen someone in public or had a friend with such striking good looks or weird charm that you legitimately thought they could create a movement if they wanted to?
also the word if FOMENT you mongoloid, how about you learn a bit more from our culture before you start absolutely butchering our language.
Ferment your foreskin and eat it jew lmfao.
No, I don't fall for that shit.
as with most things, it doesn't matter if you dont fall for it, it matters if you think others will
jews, christians, and muslims should all be in gas chambers

That reads like a cult story but Jesus was actually a good guy who did good things.
Others fall for literally anything dude.
You need to do better than that.
why did He do it?
That reads like a cult story but Jesus was actually a good guy who did good things.
He was a cult leader with some fairly revolutionary teachings.
I agree, but don't you think his miracles might suggest something more spiritual going on there too?
don't you think his miracles
They never happened. The only writings we have about Jesus were written down 40 years after his death, and we don’t have full copies of the gospels until the 3rd century.
Christianity is utter bullshit and it's obvious from the beginning.
Do you think man is really created in God's image when his body starts failing before even a hundred years old? Some animals live for hundreds of years.
Wait until you read the book!
Did you read it though
The AI is telling me what you say is wrong. Go look for yourself.
be Romans
believe that the emperor is God on Earth
some hippie in a backwater province claims he's God
execute him for conspiring against the state
Simple as.
The greatest tradition of European religion is converting to Christianity
Yeah that makes sense
how can God be both God and Jesus but also say he had a son? how does that even work?
The Sanhedrin sentenced Jesus to death for blasphemy and got the Romans to execute him. Pontius Pilate thought they were wackos and tried to get the crowd to pick him for clemency but they chose a murderer over a preacher so he washed his hands of it.
I've been meaning to
Isnt the pope now literally the roman emperor? Pontius Maximus and all that
