The Lost World ending is so tone deaf

We have le wholesome old guy giving a heartfelt speech about nature after

spending the last hour with the dinos being horror movie monsters terrorizing and eating people

Hammond sent an eco terrorist to sabotage InGen, making him indirectly responsible for dozens of deaths including his own nephew

Was it ever explained why Jeff Goldblum raped and ate that little girl at the beginning of the movie?
It's never brought up again.
None of this movie makes any goddamn sense.

read the book. so much better. that movie was a disgrace.

making him indirectly responsible for dozens of deaths including his own nephew

I very much don't like Vince Vaughn or his character in lost world, but he is not responsible for anything involved in the San Diego incident.

The whole movie is pretty bad. None of the action seems have any real purpose behind them. What I mean by that is yes, they technically do, but they don't. The baby rex is inside the RV because it was injured by the INGEN boys so they need to fix it makes sense. But everything seems contrived so that if there is an action scene , it NEEDS to one up the first movie. TWO T-Rexes, MORE Raptors, stupid chase through San Diego. The High Hide that only served the purpose of having Ian's black daughter out of the scene.

The JP movies should just be a montage of cool scenes with dinosaurs. Story is not that important. Its basically a lot like porn

Which is weird because didn't Spielberg beg Michael Crichton to write another book and barely used it?

Still better than the snorefest that is 3

The Lost World is about big game hunter Tembo who gets hired to help some clueless biotech bros round up genetic monsters that escaped. Everything goes according to plan until he makes the mistake of feeling sorry for and saving a bunch of ecoterrorists.

They didn't plan on capturing the Trex at all. They only did so because Vince released all of the dinosaurs they captured, then he sabotaged Rolands gun forcing him to use a tranquilizer.

>Hammond sent an eco terrorist to sabotage InGen, making him indirectly responsible for dozens of deaths including his own nephew

every action you make leads to some causal sin in the future.
it's the butterfly effect for morality: you can never win it seems...

sometimes I think the buddhists/hesychasts are right and inaction/stillness is the best course.

It's not. Retread of the first book with two autists in the form of Malcom and Levine sperging out, never processing their PTSD and instead acting as a moutpiece for Crichton. All the other characters were similarly flat.

Wrong, she turned into Jeff goldblum

These were choices made by other characters though. Roland choose to not give up his chance and use a tranq gun. They choose to take the t-rex to san diego by boat. The nephew choose to get into the boat alone. They all had agency in those moments removing Nick Owen from responsibility. I fully agree Nick Owen is responsible for deaths on the island, he wrecked their camp and so on, but once they all escape the island its not on him.

Almost like... Chaos theory... Woah...

Uh Chudlow deserved it for being a responsible fiduciary and not bankrupting Ingen based on the whims or a senile old man

On the other hand, Kelly was a cute white tomboy

the eco terrorism, environmental stuardship angle always pissed me off in this movie

They had a scene where Ludlow breaks the infant Rex's leg, but genius decided to remove it

yes. and that's why he didn't write a 3rd because he was so appalled with how bad the movie was.

it was still better than the last 5 movies in the series.

I mostly agree. but the Haunted House half of Fallen Kingdom is better than every other JP movie except the original.

You can tell the writer wanted to make the whole movie set in the haunted house but the producers made him tone down all the haunted house ghosts of the past/clone shit

No, I see people say this all the time. Crichton was involved in the development of part 2 and 3. Speilberg asked him for a story, did not beg him and he decided to full on wrote a sequel. Crichton talked in interviews that he wrote the sequel because he realized children were gonna read it. That his level of success reached a whole new audience. That's why Kelly is in it, he had to repeat the whole putting a kid in the story. He used it as a soap box to talk to kids about the dangers of genetic engineering, and then none of that made it to into the movie. The DX virus is similar to mad cow disease. Major tie-ins with Burger King would be hurt by keeping that in.

For part 3 he felt he was going to universal to develop the movie, but got released from his contract when he felt they were at a stand still.

every book Crichton wrote the characters were his mouthpiece. but the story was sensible in the lost world novel. the movie just isn't that good of a story

TRVTH NVKE

Reminder they cut 2 of his scenes because audiences found him too likable

he deserves to die a slow tortuous death because he's trying to save the company his uncle sunk

Having a sensible but utterly predictable rehash of a plot is worse. The film at the very least was trying different things (most of the good aspects were scrapped) and is memorable because of it even though it's not good.

i just hope they remake them closer to the books one day. the movies have gotten progressively worse over time.

It's not just the ending. The movie is thoroughly terrible.

Spielberg also expressed disappointment with the film, stating he had become increasingly disenchanted with it during production.

I always wonder what happened in the production. It did seem like the guy stopped caring halfway through.

the magic of the story was gone. the seclusion and wonder was lost and they had too many political opinions being shoved in to it from every angle. he tried to make a movie just for the dinosaurs to run wild in public so it got dumb and probably boring trying to get from a to b. also he was probably aware the movie was dog shit in comparison to the first and the novel.

Speilberg fully committed to the San Digeo sequence himself. It's not in the book and David Koepp did not have it in the original script. It was meant to be held for a 3rd movie. It really butchers the movie. The ending was going to feature the camouflage dinosaurs, on the island, that could kind of turn invisible. This didn't interest speilberg, so he kind of just ruins his own movie.

This didn't interest speilberg

What a faggot.

It could have made a really good climax to the movie. Where the raptors and even T-rex are scared to go into this area where the Carnotaurus is. You have Kelly and Harding using their flashlights to try and ward them off. It's way better than the rapid editing to get them out of the velicioraptor camp.

i miss when the tv didnt hate me

you forgot the part where the ecoterrorists were privately funded by a billionaire

Im really not into the reboot trend, but Jurassic Park could do with a reboot. Inevitably, they'd split it into two movies, or a damn series. Still, Id be ok with that. The first book is meaty enough to warrant a 4 hours or more of "content".

Lost world is ..... eh, it's fine as a book, it's a step down in some ways, but it's more of an adventure book than a sci-fi book. Jurassic World worked for me as stupid fun, but then the others have leaned harder into the stupid than the fun.

They're just animals.

lmao
